"Feranmi" A Heartfelt Story

 

THE STORY

The story of Feranmi is such that is so dear to us. Feranmi was a 7months old boy who was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Disease (hole in the heart) and had multiple complications in 2020. He was the third child of his parent which they lost the first child before Feranmi was born. He was diagnosed of multiple complications few months after he was born. 

He required an OPEN HEART SURGERY overseas (India) with an estimate cost of $8,000 but all effort to raise the money was abortive. Seven months after, our organization got to know about Feranmi's case and we did all investigation to be sure it was a genuine one; thereafter, the journey started from there. Feranmi was hospitalized for days and as part of our values, we have a selfless nature which made our Executive Director who took it upon herself to support the mother emotionally by sleeping in the hospital with her and the baby for days and also helped with errands which saved the mother of stress.

We solicited for funds on all our social media platforms, went to radio stations, NGOs, brand influencers, individuals and many more. Feranmi was so loved by everyone and he also proved that he was a strong boy, a fighter and brave champ.

Our goal was to raise a sum of Seven Million Naira (N7,000,000) to undergo his surgery in India but we were able to raise a sum of Five Million, Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N5,700,000) which covered the bills from Consultation, Hospitalization, International Passport, Visa Processing, Tickets and Surgery.

After few months, Feranmi was flown to India with his mother to undergo his surgery but on getting there, something happened which was a painful one to hear. The doctor said it was too late for him to be operated upon until he clocks ten years old; so sad to hear that after all was done to make his surgery happen. He was given medications that would manage his health and thereafter, they both came back to Nigeria. Feranmi lived on his medications up until we heard the saddest news ever.
